Sen. Alexander, stop supporting Obama's war on coal!

In 2008, then-candidate Barack Obama explained his energy policy like this: “Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad.” He went on to say: “So, if somebody wants to build a coal plant, they can — it’s just that it will bankrupt them.”

That’s really bad news for Tennessee, which relies on coal-fired power plants for 53 percent of its electricity. Yet, shockingly, Sen. Lamar Alexander is siding with Obama and his War on Coal.

The day after the 2010 election, Obama said: “Cap and trade was just one way of skinning the cat; it was not the only way. It was a means, not an end.”

Obama has used his Environmental Protection Agency bureaucrats to move forward on that plan. The linchpin is the “Utility Maximum Achievable Control Technology” rule, and it’s the most expensive EPA rule in history.

Fortunately, the Senate will soon have an opportunity to overturn the mercury rule when it votes on a resolution offered by Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., under the Congressional Review Act, a specialized procedure that protects votes on overturning regulations from filibuster. The Inhofe resolution requires only 51 votes to invalidate the rule.

Unfortunately, Alexander has publicly stated that he will vote against the Inhofe resolution.  Worse, he is offering a phony bill that has no chance of passing, would only briefly delay the economic devastation of the Utility MACT rule, and serves no purpose but to attempt to provide himself and vulnerable Democrats with political cover for voting against the Inhofe Resolution.

That's wrong for Tennessee.

Urge Senator Lamar Alexander to reverse course on Utility MACT and stand up for Tennessee!

He is or was in Europe the past few week. That took fuel. This legislation will rise the cost of electricity. Also, although off the subject, the accident that caused sludge at the TVA plant in East Tennessee is going to cost mega bucks to clean up. Although TVA admits it was their fault, guess who is going to pay for the clean up? We are. TVA is passing the cost to us.I am adamantly opposed to any bill passed that will cost Tennesseans more money, using the umbrella name of "Global Warming". Alexander isn't representing the Tenneseans. He has turned into a "Yes Man".

A vote that supports the Obama regime is a vote for Obama and a vote against America as far as I am concerned. I want to send all of you home and start over with some people with some sense! Obama is for Obama not America. If anyone doubts this listen to his own words. He wants to "fundementally change America". I say we "fundementally change our president in November" and also vote out Alexander the next chance we get!

I sent you an email when you voted to confirm that liberal judge. I told you that I would do everything in my power to make sure you aren't ever re-elected. This just confirms you are an obama puppet. I have no respect at all for you. You need to go - just like that imposter in the White House.

Time to dig some more coal!! The technology is far superior than 100 years ago and far less pollution. Perhaps these rule makers need to go put a plug up the old cows tail!

I come from a family that is connected to coal. The coal industry allowed my family to raise many kids and it is an energy source, properly utilized with scrubbers, that will power our future. Stand up for YOUR constituents beliefs in fewer regulations, vote no on this bill.

How many more jobs are you going to cost with this decision. Your mercury arguement is so weak when you consider how much mercury is contianed in the new light bulbs the goverment is forcing down our thoarts. Do you really think all those bulbs are being "safely" disposed of, if so you are a bigger idoit than I thought. Keep your voting ecord with the Obama's it makes it easier to defeat you in two years. Just ask Rep. Black she is about to seee what happens to a RINO!

We should be trying to find more jobs, find ways to stop unnecessary government spending. We shouldn't be trying to take away and age old industry that does more good than bad.
