HouseStandStrong.com: No Lame Duck Tax Hikes

Messages Sent So Far

President Obama was narrowly reelected, but the American people did not vote for tax hikes.  In fact, one of Obama's major campaign themes was the claim that Romney wanted to raise taxes.  The 2012 election was a status quo election; Obama was returned to the White House, but Republicans retained the House because the American people want them to continue to exercise a check and balance.

The strong House opposition to tax hikes was vindicated, not rejected, by the election.

Moreover, given the extraordinarily weak economic recovery the country faces, it would be an enormous mistake to raise any taxes and risk tipping the economy back into recession.

Please sign below to tell your Member of Congress: "We urge you to stand strong against any tax hikes in the lame duck session."

"The rich", already pay their "fair share" of the tax burden of this country! If you want to be "fair" then remove the progressive tax system and replace it with tax system that taxes every single person at the same rate period. Then, like President Obama said in 2008, "everybody should have some skin in the game.", will be true. And is actually the only way to make it true. So, here is a little story. My step-son got together with his girlfriend, that has never worked a day of her 30 year life and who had three children, (the oldest one was taken by social services because she was not a good mother). They then had two more children together knowing that they could not even financially support the two that they were raising. Well they get into section 8 housing at $800.00 per month (paid for by the tax payers of our society). They get on food stamps at $1100.00 per month, (again paid for by the tax payers). Then as a bonus for doing nothing but sitting around smoking pot and watching TV, (and I mean nothing the house was always a disgusting mess dirty laundry all over moldy dishes in the kitchen etc., I mean nothing) they get a tax "refund" of over $5000.00! That is a total $27,800.00 for doing NOTHING! I do not even want to pay a penny of taxes for that kind of crap! STOP THE SPENDING!

Today, Mitch McConnel said bring the Presidents bill on tax increases to a vote, but Harry Reid said no. Amazingly, he must think it would be voted down much like his budget was 100-0 no.
